Welcome Quintess!
18 years! I guess we became vegan around the same time. I'm at 19 years.
I've added your cookbook to my Cookbook Review pages.

Introduce Yourself

Postby Löu » Mon Aug 24, 2009 6:44 am

Hi everyone ! :D

I discovered this forum (& Website) yesterday night, and I decided ton register here today.
I'm 18, I live in France, and I study the English (the language) at the University (I'm undergraduate). I have been vegan since the 1st of June ! Before I was a vegetarian.
What drive me to register, is the fact that I will probably study in the USA lnex year (bw Mid-August 2010 and Mid-May 2011).So it's in order to find out how to leave well as a vegan in the USA. :study:
I could talk and talk again about this year in the USA, but nothing is done. I am going to plan this trip in September, but I already found one university : Willamette University, Salem, OR. And it seems to be the perfect place !

See you.

(Sorry for my English, even if I study it, I'm not really good :? )

Welcome Löu!
It's really cool that you're going to study in America. Living in another country is such a great experience.
I will never forget my 3 years in Toulouse!
And coming from France.... it will be a breeze being vegan in America. :)

Thanks Wanda ;)

I can't stop myself thinking about this trip ! I'm really impatient to organize it !
What do you mean when you say :
And coming from France.... it will be a breeze being vegan in America. :)

You came here to study or something else ? I saw in an other Topic that you speak French very well !

That's nice of you to say. I don't really feel there's much of my French left after all these years.
I studied in France. I did a deug mass at the university in Toulouse.

We left in '95. At that time it really wasn't that easy being vegan in France.
We didn't know any other vegans there and there weren't many vegan options in stores.
That might have improved a bit, but it definitely is better here in America (depending on where you are of course).

Hello everybody,

My name is Camille, I'm 19 and I live in France. I've been a vegan for 8 months, and a vegetarian for 2 years. I've always wanted to become a vegetarian and then a vegan, but when I lived with my parents they obliged me to eat meat, dairy, eggs ...
I'm very interested in animal rights, non-violence, vegan cooking :chef: ...
If you have some questions about me, you can ask !

See you soon,

Tarasahas

Salut Camille,

Welcome to the forum and congratulations on being vegan. When I lived in France 15 years ago, I remember that vegans were viewed as fanatics and cult members. Has the situation changed since then?

It's nice to have someone from France here.

:thanks:

Hello,

Vegans are still viewed as fanatics/sect ; and vegan families have a lot of problems with the doctors ("You don't give meat, dairy, eggs etc to your children ? they will die !" etc).
But finally I'm happy to live in France, because there's a lot to do : informing people, showing how we can live without cruelty ...
I think medical information about veganism is very important, so we can show that veganism is a healthy choice too ; and reassure people. That's why I'm studying in order to become a dietitian.

Have a great day !

Welcome!
You're definitely right that it's good to stay in France. We need vegans there!
And it's great that you're studying to become a dietitian! I hope your teachers don't convince you that veganism isn't healthy.

Hi every one.
First let me say: I'm from Argentina... so... my english has serious problems, Sorry!!!. My name is Micaela, I'm 15 and I'm vegan since today... I'm pretty excited, but I live in a really small town so it's hard to be vegan right here. I don't believe in God and in 2 years I'm going to university to study Psichology. My playlist it's kinda mix: I like Portishead, Nirvana, Epica, Dark Moor, Evanescence, Beethoven, Chopin, Linkin Park, Versailles...
I don't know what else to say...

Vegan since today!!!! Wow! That's so cool.
I remember the day I became vegan. February 27, 1990. I celebrate that day each year.
Definitely post any questions you have on the forum.
